What is LEAD Asia?

As promised, here is a little info about LEAD Asia and some more details of what we'll be doing with them:

LEAD (Language Education and Development) is a faith-based organization dedicated to serving small language communities in Southern Asia in the area of community development. Since the organization was established in 2008, LEAD has been experimenting with a unique way of reaching these communities. LEAD first facilitates discussions within the community about various areas (health, environment, business, literacy, etc.) that the community may be interested in improving. LEAD then connects the community with organizations, experts, and consultants in the areas that community members select as priorities for development.

This experiment has proved successful: the participatory community development is effective at bringing out meaningful change in the way people live; it is also effective in spreading the gospel of Christ. LEAD is ready to expand its focus and depth of projects. In order to do this, they need good documentation of the projects that have been completed or are underway. That's where we come in. We will be traveling in southern Asia with LEAD's communications director this fall, collecting stories of the organization's work. These stories will be used for recruitment of full-time community development missionaries and developing LEAD's website. We will also be helping to create a manual and protocol for future volunteers with LEAD.
